Tread on Uncharted Territories to Get Inspiration as an Artist

It takes guts to explore unknown places. For artists, these uncharted waters or unknown places are new mediums that they have never explored before. It can get confusing for all the artists like you with what reason should you explore new mediums of art.

Exploring a new art medium is like learning a new skill from the scratch.  Of course, it takes a lot of time and effort to learn a new skill and hone it. But in the end, it pays off well in inspiring you as an artist and you are able to form new perspectives and ideas in your own field.

Sometimes artists lack the inspiration to create their style of art and they might feel down and defeated at that point. To counteract that, artists can learn something completely different from their field of art to get some fresh ideas. If you are a painter, and to freshen up your mind, you start working as a photographer, it can benefit you.

It can benefit you in the sense that painting and photography are similar on the basis that both of them are still pictured mediums. Both of these mediums use color and contrast to portray a story or an idea. So, as a painter, you can derive a lot of new ideas by learning about photography.

It can work the other way too if you are a photographer who is keen to learn about painting. Instead of staying restricted to a single field, exploring new horizons is a great way to upskill yourself and learn more about your art.

Tips to Explore a New Art Medium

  • Select an Art Medium

Time is of utmost importance and to make proper use of this time, you must choose an art medium that resonates with you. It is a good idea to learn new things. However, learning new things without any predetermined thoughts can be useless.

While learning a new medium of art, you must make sure that this medium of art is related to your goals and passion. Learning something without having a connection with it is very difficult and baseless in the long run.

Choosing the art medium is the first step to learning it. So, choose an art medium that will help you hone your current set of skills to make you superior in what you do.

  • Tutorials or Classes

After having chosen the medium of the art that you want to learn, you will need to select between online tutorials and tuition classes. There are tutoring classes available all over the world for any kind of skill you want to learn, be it painting, cooking, or playing an instrument.

You can either self-learn by watching tutorials and methods online or go to dedicated classes for the art to learn from a professional directly. Both online and offline tutorials have their own perks and disadvantages. It ultimately depends on you how you would want to go about your new desired form of art.

Tutorial classes tend to provide you with examples, such as fine American art, if you are learning to become a painter. These examples give a short glimpse into the world of the new art you are venturing into.

  • Attend Workshops

Workshops are held in institutions to provide knowledge about different forms and art and study. These workshops assist you in understanding the concept of the art and also give you ways on how to sell art online and offline.

Ending Note

Art is not an easy medium to form your life on as it takes a huge amount of time to establish yourself as a brand and earn a living. Many artists tend to lose interest in their art over time. To renew the interest in their art, learning a new art medium is a great way.

You can also showcase your artworks in an art gallery online and get exposure in the industry through this new art style. Learning something new always gives you a wide understanding of how things outside your field work. This helps to form new perspectives and knowledge, which you can gain some ideas and inspiration from as an artist for your own art form.

The Rise of E-cigarette and Other Devices

It is believed the tobacco has been growing for more than 8000 years in the Americas, especially in the wilderness around Ecuador and Peru. It was about 2000 years ago that humans started chewing and smoking tobacco as a part of the social and cultural ceremonies.

The spread of tobacco

However, it was Christopher Columbus, the 15th-century explorer who was the first European to discover tobacco and introduce it to Europe. By the late 17th century, tobacco had spread across the globe and started emerging as a global industry.

In the meanwhile, a lot of research was getting done on the causes and effects of tobacco smoking. In 1828, two German chemists Posselt & Reimann, successfully isolated the alkaloid “Nicotine” which was thought to be the reason behind addictive nature of tobacco.

In 1880 James Bonsack invented the cigarette making machine which truly revolutionised tobacco smoking and made it s global phenomenon. Tobacco consumption rose across the globe due to the convenience offered by the cigarette and since then there has been no looking back. For the next two hundred years, the cigarette continued to hold sway over the way tobacco was consumed across the world.

The first breakthrough

In 1967, Herbert Gilbert patented a device that would not burn the tobacco. Instead, his “smokeless cigarette” had a mechanism that included a paper which when heated would release vapours that were inhaled to achieve the same effect as tobacco, sans combustion and hence the smoke.  While this device did not prove to be commercially successful, it did start a race across the world to search such device. Henceforth, while the principle of creating vapours remained the same, the mechanism to achieve the desired effect kept on getting improvised.

The first e-cigarette

In 2003, a Chinese pharmacist, Hon Lik, created the first commercially viable e-cigarette. This e-cigarette had three components – the atomiser, a battery and a mouthpiece. It used Propylene Glycol (PG) mixed with Nicotine. Inhaling through the mouthpiece would activate the heating element in the atomiser. This in turn would create vapours of PG mixed with Nicotine. This e-cigarette produced smoke and delivered Nicotine, but did not smell like a conventional tobacco cigarette.

The Next Gen of e-cigarette

Since the launch of Hon Lik’s e-cigarette, the world has seen many improvements both in the hardware as well as the liquid being inhaled through the device.  Also, now this habited called “Vaping” (Vap = short for vapour) and the instruments are called Vaping Devices.

The new Hardware & Software

Now-a-days, e-cigarettes come in 2 broad categories – rechargeable and disposable.

Disposable e-cigarette

As the name suggests, disposable e-cigarettes fall under the “use & throw” category. Typically, this cigarette lasts for about 400 to 500 puffs or equivalent to 40-45 conventional cigarettes. This makes such cigarettes not only convenient to manage, but also easy to dispose off. It has an inbuilt and non-rechargeable battery and is also loaded with juice (e-liquid) that will last for 400-500 puffs. Besides being disposable and convenient to operate, the advantage of such cigarette is that one can choose from a range of flavours and Nicotine levels (including zero nicotine) or its combinations.  Also, by choosing a different base liquid instead of Propylene Glycol (PG), this e-cigarette can be made to go completely smokeless. Hence, first-timers prefer to start with disposable e-cigarettes till such a time that they don’t get a hang of things

As the name suggests, neither the battery nor liquid in such e-cigarette can be recharged or refilled. The cigarette has to be compulsorily disposed off once the battery is discharged or the liquid is exhausted.

Rechargeable e-Cigarette

As the name suggests, the battery of this e-cigarette can be recharged at regular intervals and also the liquid. The hardware of such e-cigarettes is completely reusable and last for long period of times. One can easily change the cartridge and keep on using the vaping device till such a time that the battery is strong enough. Once the battery has drained or has become weak, one needs to recharge it.

The advantage is not only that the device has a much longer life but one can even keep on experimenting with the flavours and nicotine levels. Also, one can get an option of doing away with the smoke producing Propylene Glycol (PG) as the base material. Like disposable e-cigarettes, rechargeable e-cigarette can also be made absolutely smokeless.

Within rechargeable e-cigarettes, higher capacity devices are also available. Called as a Vape Pen and Mods or Tank, these devices have increasingly larger storage capacity for the e-liquid and battery to last longer than conventional e-cigarettes. These high capacity devices are generally preferred by experienced users.

The Way Forward

At a global level, the market size of e-cigarette and other vape devices was estimated at USD 12.41 billion for the year 2019-20. During the period 2020 till 2027, it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 23.8%. US alone is expected to generate revenues exceeding $16.1 Billion by 2024 growing at a CAGR or 18.4% between 2019-24.

The e-cigarette has come a long way and is here to stay. With rising consumer demand, the e-cigarette will keep on evolving with greater use of technology and the desire for customisation.  Also, as newer flavours get added to the already large range, the popularity of the e-cigarette is bound to increase further. Christopher Columbus may have never imagined that the humble plant that he took out of Americas and transported to Europe would become a global rage and spawn such a big industry.

Top Reasons Why You Should Hire Full Stack Developers for the Next Project

There has been a lot of talk and discussion about the relevancy of full-stack development in recent years. To tell you the core truth, the demand for experienced and expert full-stack developers is not going to fade out in the long run. IT and web development companies are seeking to hire a jack of all trade developers to enhance productivity.

Whether you are an established organization or a startup, you have to brace up for stiff competition. For example, if you are planning to launch a mobile application, it has to begin with developing an idea and then convert that idea into reality. However, in order to taste the fruit of success, you need an efficient developer to handle the project.

Who is a Full-Stack Developer

A full-stack developer is a professional who has adequate knowledge of all the layers of an application. The layers are a combination of different technologies required to complete a project. It is how the term stack has come into existence.

Hire Full Stack Developers

We can categorize the layers into three different categories-

Presentation Layer – Known as the front-end layer of the application, it includes almost everything that’s viewed by end-users. Nowadays, the developers are making use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, and libraries to develop the front-end of the app.

Logic Layer – Next we come to the logical layer of the application, which is also known as the backend. It includes all types of development except the user interface. It can be regarded as the core of the application providing the functionality. You may use different programming languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, and.NET.

Data Layer– The last of all is the data layer, which is sometimes called the sub-group of the logic layer. As the name suggests, it specifically deals with how data is created, read, and updated on the databases.

Let’s look into some specific reasons why a full-stack developer will prove to be a worthy asset for your project.

Easy to Switch Projects

The full-stack developer is known as an all-rounder. They are experts who have ample knowledge of most of the technologies required to create an app. He is a professional who can easily cater to the requirements of both front-end and backend of the project. He is well aware of the development challenges and how to tackle them. It becomes easier for him to switch from one project to another without any difficulty.

T-Shaped Professionals

The full-stack developers are also known as T-shaped professionals. It means they have familiarity with the MVC of the app along with the prominent programming languages and app designing. They remain up-to-date with the latest technologies trending in the application development industry.

Simple Updates and Easy Maintenance

Any project begins with an idea, which gets converted into a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to test the idea. So, if you need to update your MVP, please let me know. the role of a full-stack developer becomes crucial. He can be handier in comparison to a domain-specific expert.

Hiring Full-Stack Developers is Cost-Effective

Whether you are a startup or an established business organization, the cost is always an important factor when choosing professional developers. Most clients think twice before spending their money. Obviously, if you have to hire a separate professional for each of the tasks such as development, designing, and testing, it would cost you more. Therefore, you can look to hire a full-stack developer who can complete all the tasks.

Complete Solution to All Problems

When you hire the services of a domain-specific expert, he can relentlessly focus on particular problems but cannot help you outside his expertise. However, a full-stack developer is an exception to that. He can cater to both the front-end and back-end issues, solving the problem without wasting too much time.

Delivers the Project within the Stipulated Deadline

Every application developer aims to deliver the project within a specified deadline. However, the fact is that very few projects get delivered on time due to lack of coordination or some other reason. But since full-stack developers handle the project entirely, they know what time is needed to complete the app development.

Catering to Design Structure

The full-stack developer can cater to the design concepts of the applications as well. He can deploy the product properly. He can write codes to design the user interface of the app if required,

Wrapping it Up

As an entrepreneur of your business organization, you have to make a decision whether you want to hire a full-stack developer or go with a domain-specific expert. With full-stack development, you will get every solution from developing an MVC to testing an app successfully.
